Saving Tips

-Shop at a bag-your-own grocery store (Aldi’s, Save-A-Lot)

-Sign up for store club cards (They are usually free and they make you eligible for

significant discounts.

-Buy your meat at a meat market.

-Shop at bakery outlets. You can buy bread for about one-third the regular grocery store

price. Outlets also sell cookies and snack cakes for lunches for far lower prices

than you can find elsewhere. The items sold in bakery outlets are very fresh and will last

even longer if you store them in your refrigerator or freezer. Some stores also have

programs like “buy ten items, get one free.”

-Shop with coupons. www.suddenvalues.com

-Watch for after-holiday candy clearance sales. The day after a holiday, you can buy

bags of name-brand candy for half price or less. They’re great for snacks, and they are

inexpensive fillers for goody bags if you’ve got a child’s birthday party coming up.

-Join a discount club like Sam’s Club or Costco. Their wares include not just food, but

in many cases everything from groceries to tires to contact lenses and prescription drugs

-Buy an entertainment discount book. These are books loaded with a variety of

coupons, from fast food to fine dining, movies, lodging discounts, even car repair. Some

coupon books are sold as fundraisers for schools and other nonprofits. www.entertainmentbook.com
